We are an approved first aid supplier for the Scottish Youth Football Association or SYFA. This means that that the SYFA are satisfied that the course meets the Scottish Football Association’s criteria laid out here. Our courses are taught by highly experienced trainers with years of experience in providing First Aid cover at sporting and other events and providing Sports First Aid training.
Scottish Football Association(SFA) Club Licensing includes the requirement that clubs have at least 1 person on the touchline with each team who has Sports First Aid training, where a Chartered Physiotherapist is not present. Our 2 day First Aid for Sport course is 12 hours in duration with accreditation lasting 3 years and meets the requirements of the SYFA and the SFA, thereby fulfilling this requirement.
The course is taught by appropriately qualified and highly experienced trainers and is specifically designed as a Sports First Aid course. The course covers the criteria laid out by the SFA Medical Committee, which includes the role and legal responsibilities of the first aider, appropriate first aid kit and basic life support. It also includes the management of the unconscious casualty, vomiting, choking, suspected heart attack, head injuries, spinal injuries, arm injuries, leg injuries, sports injuries, soft tissue injuries, fractures, bleeding, the management of shock, the management of wounds/burns and the management of medical conditions in sport including asthma, diabetes and seizures.
The course content is covered by a mixture of teaching methods including a Power Point presentation, a high quality First Aid manual of which every participant will receive a copy to take away and appropriate scenarios to practice the practical assessment and treatment skills that will be covered.
